Our Anton Valley tour gives you two ways to experience the area. Choose the more active India Dormida route for valley views, or enjoy a shorter walk with petroglyphs, waterfalls and time at the market.
The local market offers opportunities to browse handmade crafts, plants, produce and souvenirs. Your afternoon activity can introduce you to more of the valley’s wildlife, gardens or local culture.

Choose Your Anton Valley Tour Option
We offer two itineraries at the same base tour price. Let your guide know which option you prefer on the day of your tour. If you have mobility concerns or a particular attraction is important to your visit, contact us before booking.
Option A: India Dormida Hike & One Local Attraction
Best for: Travelers comfortable with a moderate uphill hike who want mountain and valley views.
Spend the morning hiking La India Dormida with your guide. Follow the trail through tropical vegetation toward viewpoints overlooking El Valle and learn about the legend behind the mountain’s distinctive silhouette.
The morning hiking window is approximately 10:00 AM–12:00 PM. The route and pace depend on the group and trail conditions.
After lunch, choose one afternoon activity:
- Golden Frog Exhibition: Learn about the Panamanian golden frog and conservation efforts. Unavailable on Wednesdays.
- Níspero Zoo & Botanical Garden: Explore the grounds, gardens and animal exhibits. Admission is paid separately.
- Artisan Market: Browse local crafts, jewelry, artwork and souvenirs.
Fitness requirement: This option involves uphill walking and uneven terrain. A moderate level of fitness and secure hiking shoes are recommended.
Option B: Petroglyphs, Waterfalls & Artisan Market
Best for: Travelers who prefer a shorter walk and more time exploring local attractions.
Begin with a shorter hike to see petroglyphs and waterfalls. There may be an opportunity for a refreshing dip when water and weather conditions allow.
Continue to the Artisan Market to browse crafts and local products before stopping for lunch.
After lunch, choose one afternoon activity:
- Golden Frog Exhibition: Discover the Panamanian golden frog and learn about conservation. Unavailable on Wednesdays.
- Níspero Zoo & Botanical Garden: Explore the gardens and animal exhibits. Admission is paid separately.
Walking conditions: This route is shorter than Option A but can still involve wet, slippery or uneven surfaces.
Approximate Tour Schedule
- 7:00 AM: Pickup from your Panama City accommodation and departure for Anton Valley.
- Around 9:30 AM: Arrival in El Valle de Antón.
- 10:00 AM–12:00 PM: Option A’s India Dormida hike, or Option B’s shorter petroglyph and waterfall walk followed by the Artisan Market.
- 12:00–1:00 PM: Lunch stop at a local restaurant. Lunch is paid separately.
- 1:00–2:00 PM: Your chosen afternoon attraction.
- Around 2:00 PM: Depart Anton Valley for Panama City.
- Around 4:00 PM: Return and drop-off in Panama City.
All times are approximate and may change with traffic, weather, hiking pace and attraction availability.

Important Tour Information
- Hiking ability: India Dormida requires a moderate level of fitness. Tell us before booking about any condition that could prevent you from hiking at a moderate pace.
- Shorter walking option: Option B offers less hiking, but its paths may still be uneven, wet or slippery. It is not a step-free itinerary.
- Activity selection: Tell your guide whether you prefer Option A or Option B on the day of the tour.
- Wednesday visits: The Golden Frog Exhibition is unavailable. Select another afternoon activity.
- Swimming: Swimming opportunities depend on water levels, weather and your guide’s assessment of conditions.
- Pickup: Be ready in your accommodation lobby at the confirmed time. Select any required pickup supplement at checkout.
- Group size: Available for two or more guests. Solo travelers should inquire before booking.
- Weather: Rain and cloud cover can affect trail conditions and visibility. Your guide may adjust the itinerary when necessary.
Anton Valley Tour FAQ
How much does the Anton Valley tour cost?
The base tour price is $111 per guest. Lunch and the stated India Dormida and Níspero Zoo admission fees are paid separately. Optional private-tour and additional pickup services can be selected at checkout.
What is the difference between Option A and Option B?
Option A includes the India Dormida hike and one afternoon attraction. Option B includes a shorter petroglyph and waterfall walk, the Artisan Market and one afternoon attraction.
Does the tour include pickup from Panama City?
Yes. Pickup and drop-off within the standard Panama City area are included. Check the transportation options at checkout if your accommodation is outside this area.
How long does the tour last?
The tour lasts approximately nine hours, including transportation. Pickup is around 7:00 AM, and return to Panama City is around 4:00 PM.
How difficult is the India Dormida hike?
It is a moderate hike with uphill sections and uneven terrain. Secure hiking shoes and a reasonable level of fitness are recommended. Option B is a shorter alternative, although it still involves walking on natural surfaces.
Can I choose my itinerary on the day?
Yes. Let your guide know whether you prefer Option A or Option B. Contact us beforehand if you have mobility concerns or a specific attraction is important to you.
Is lunch included?
No. The itinerary includes a lunch stop at a local restaurant, where you pay for your meal separately.
Can I visit the Golden Frog Exhibition on Wednesday?
No. Choose Níspero Zoo & Botanical Garden instead, or the Artisan Market if you select Option A.
Can we swim at the waterfalls?
Option B may offer a swimming opportunity when conditions are suitable. Bring swimwear, a towel and a change of clothes. Swimming cannot be guaranteed.
Is this tour suitable for children?
Families should choose the option that matches their children’s walking ability and comfort on uneven trails. Contact us before booking if you need help choosing the itinerary.
Is Anton Valley the same as El Valle de Antón?
Yes. Anton Valley is the English name commonly used for El Valle de Antón, the mountain town visited on this tour.

Tao Travel 365 strives to deliver the best possible customer experience. If at any point you have a question or concern about our service, please call us at +1 (805) 826-3657 or email us at sales@taotravel365.tours.
The following cancellation policy applies only to day tours and does not apply to multi-day tours.
TOUR POLICIES
Due to the nature of our business, the logistics involved in organizing tours and high reservation demand, the following refund policies apply:
- A 100% refund, less credit-card processing fees, will only be granted when the tour was booked directly through www.taotravel365.tours and the cancellation is received more than 24 hours before the scheduled start of the tour.
- No refund will be granted for cancellations received less than 24 hours before the scheduled start of the tour.
All sales are final.
For bookings made through third-party platforms, including but not limited to Viator, Expedia and Airbnb, please refer to and follow the cancellation policy of the platform through which you booked.
If you are unable to attend your reservation, contact us as soon as possible. We will try to reschedule your reservation for the same tour or another tour when possible.
If you are not at the designated meeting point at the scheduled reservation or pickup time, Tao Travel 365 reserves the right not to provide a refund. However, we will always make a reasonable effort to locate you at the meeting point and contact the WhatsApp number provided with your reservation. We want you to participate in the tour and enjoy your experience.
CANCELED OR POSTPONED TOURS
Occasionally, tours may be canceled or postponed because of weather or ocean conditions, mechanical failure or other unforeseen circumstances. If this occurs, we will attempt to contact you and provide information about the applicable refund or rescheduling options.
For specific instructions regarding a canceled or postponed tour, please contact us. If Tao Travel 365 cancels your tour, we will issue a refund or offer to reschedule you for another tour, as detailed below.
REFUNDS
All sales are final. Refunds are not available unless a tour is canceled or postponed by Tao Travel 365, or we receive a cancellation request more than 24 hours before the scheduled start of an eligible day tour.
For eligible cancellations received more than 24 hours in advance, a 100% refund of the tour price will be issued, less payment-processing and convenience fees. If Tao Travel 365 cancels or postpones a tour, we will refund the amount paid for the affected tour. Service, payment-processing and convenience fees are nonrefundable.
To request a refund for a canceled or postponed tour, email sales@taotravel365.tours within two days of the tour cancellation and include the word “Refund” in the subject line. We will provide instructions for completing your request.

Tao Travel 365 does not ordinarily offer tour exchanges. In certain exceptional circumstances, such as a cancellation by Tao Travel 365, we may offer an exchange or rescheduling option. Availability is not guaranteed, and additional fees may apply.

This tour with Ali was such a beautiful and memorable part of our Panama trip. From the moment he picked us up at the hotel, he was prompt, communicative, and super friendly, just easy to be around. We drove out to the village area, hopped in a boat, and even got to cool off at a waterfall before heading to the Embera community. The pace of the tour felt perfect, never rushed, never dragging, and Ali’s local knowledge really added so much. As two female travelers, we felt safe the entire time, like we were on our own private adventure. The lunch provided by the village was simple but full of flavor, and being able to watch the cultural dance and learn about the Embera way of life was incredibly special. If I had to offer one suggestion, it’d be to maybe include water bottles, but honestly, everything else was so wonderful that it didn’t take away from the experience. He helped everyone on the hike and I understand over the rocks at the end of hike to the main waterfall. I am 74 and he helped me several times times but I did not go over the rocks because that would have been to difficult for me. He and the villager Lewis were incredibly kind. Lea LucyAugust 14, 2025On 07/27/2025 my friends and I went on the best trip ever. We were picked up at our hotel and off to the rain forest we went. Our tour guide Ali was very knowledgeable of the surrounding area and very helpful with getting us in and out the van safely. When we arrived at the dock to get on our canoe he helped everyone one of us with our life vest and getting on safely. Now the walk to the waterfall was long and strenuous for some of us. Ali stayed close helping us up and over the rocks and thru the water. The fish at the village was so yummy too. I would definitely recommend anyone to use these guys and ask for Ali he’s the best. Michael HarrisonJune 7, 2025What an amazing excursion. Our guide Mario was brilliant and translation to English was excellent. The drive was a history lesson of each landmark and about the area. Then the adventure really began when got on the canoe...sit back and take in the natural surroundings. Then came the trek (15 mins) to the waterfall. Be sure to wear aqua socks and not sandals as it can be rocky and a bit uneven. Be prepared for your feet to get wet. Then we arrived to the waterfall. So pretty. It gets busy though and can imagine at peak times, it will be VERY VERY busy. Then it was back on the canoe and taken to one of the reserves where we were given an educational lesson. Sharon HJune 7, 2025Wonderful! Fabulous! We were met at our hotel by our Tour Guide Mario promptly as arranged. He gave us a great history review of various landmarks on route to our excursion too. Upon arrival to the river, we took a canoe and how beautiful the 20 minute journey in the powered canoe was to the creak. You feel so at one with nature. Be prepared to get your feet wet and wear aqua sandals - take your chances wearing anything else as you will walk across rocks and stones up to knee high. It's a 15 minute walk through little streams and up mini rock hills to get to the waterfall but once there....take a breath and take it all in. We did a private tour which was great and arrived just before the big groups. I can imagine that during peak season that it will be very busy. On the way back, we stopped at an Embera Village and was given a private history about the people, their land, their crafts. A simple lunch of fried talipia and plantain was served in leaves and was surprisingly delicious and comes from someone who's sceptical about where I eat. This was followed with fresh fruit and water and then a dance by the Embera people and then finally, the opportunity to spend some cash buying their crafts. A worthwhile trip! Helpful operator, tour fixed up at a day's notice. Cost less than same on Viator etc, presumably fewer layers taking a cut. Slightly awkward communications and pickup, but that was largely because of the short notice. Perfectly nice tour, decent explanations, attractive lunch. Waterfall quite fun, Emberá visit very interesting although wife bought far to many souvenirs. Main guide and Emberá guide just fine. Good enough English for us anglophones. 4 guests total on our tour and at village, latter appreciated, but waterfall time shared with a bigger party, which was fine. Gary MMarch 27, 2025Great Time! Our guide, Ana, was wonderful from start to finish. The ride up the river was awesome, our guides from the Embera tribe was great, friendly. We went dueing the dry season so we had to hike up to the waterfall, but that just made going in that much more enjoyable. Plus you get to see more of the flora as well. The Embara tribe were wonderful, the crafts they made and learning how they dye the material was just great. Food was fantastic. When we arrived at the Chagres National Park, for my canoe ride down the Chagres River, he ensured I was safe and happy. Also, after arriving in Embera Village, I was so happy to support the tribe, and I purchased quite a bit, from the families, and I totally forgot about the tribe entrance fee, so Ali was kind enough to take me to that ATM / bank, so I could get more cash, and he agreed to send the cash to the Embera Tribe. The tour was very well planned and so enjoyable. Aura was very knowledgeable and friendly and professional. We enjoyed our tour so much that we booked another tour to visit the Embera tribe and venture on the Chagres River. Aura was once again our guide and made the experience one to remember! She shared personal stories and spoke about life in Panamá. She even brought us to a local fruit stand and even helped us find medication we needed and brought us to 3 different pharmacies until we found what we needed. Above and beyond!! Our pick up driver Ali picked us up at the stated time and spoke good English and told us what to expect when he drops us off at the boat launch. Ali came back at the boat launch the next day to pick us up also. He was very knowledgeable with any question we asked him. We stopped to the waterfalls and was able to swim there before going to the village. Our assigned village was at Embera Drua and when we arrived we were greeted by the village tribe with we welcome music and met with Mateo (also called Mathew) who spoke pretty good English. All the food we had there was very tasty and plenty. We are able to play with the kids, watch the women make crafts, swim in the river and roam around the village. The sleeping accommodations were basic, but clean.Posted on Google

LaShawn DonaldNovember 19, 2023OMG!!! The Embera Day Tour! This tour was amazing. It was such an adventure. The dip under the waterfall was so worth it! You MUST wear water shoes or shoes you don’t mind getting wet and muddy. Clothes that you’re okay getting wet as you must get in the river to get to the waterfall. The Embera people were so nice and the fish absolutely delicious. Please bring cash and support their beautiful crafts. If you want something really nice I suggest bringing at least $50. Their crafts are priced by how long it took to make. I bought a beautiful piece, it was $35 because it took 35 days to make. I highly recommend this tour. Also, if you can request Aura as your guide!!!! She was absolutely amazing. Great personality and lots of fun. She even got wet with me under the waterfall.Posted on Google

He taught us a lot about the culture of Panama. Our tour to the waterfalls and the Embera community was wonderful and exciting.
