Isla Perro San Blas – Island Overview
Isla Perro, also known as Isla Perro Chico, is located in the Lemon Cays of San Blas, Panama, approximately 25 minutes by boat from the Port of Cartí.

Isla Perro Beach, Shipwreck & Snorkeling
One of the biggest reasons to stay on Isla Perro Panama is its beautiful Caribbean setting. The island has a powdery white-sand beach, clear turquoise water and plenty of space for swimming and relaxing beneath the palm trees.
Just offshore lies Isla Perro's famous sunken shipwreck. The wreck sits in relatively shallow water and has become home to marine life, making it a popular snorkeling spot. When ocean conditions are suitable, guests can swim to the wreck directly from the beach.
Please avoid standing on, climbing onto or removing anything from the wreck. Coral and marine organisms can be fragile, and responsible snorkeling helps protect the surrounding ecosystem.
Bring your own snorkeling equipment if possible so you can enjoy the water at your own pace. Visibility and swimming conditions naturally vary with weather, currents and sea conditions.
Meals During Your Isla Perro Stay

Getting to Isla Perro from Panama City
The journey from Panama City to Isla Perro combines shared 4x4 transportation with a boat transfer from the Port of Cartí.
Pickup from your Panama City accommodation is normally between 5:00 AM and 5:45 AM. The drive to the San Blas port takes approximately 2.5–3 hours and crosses winding mountain roads before reaching Guna Yala.
After port check-in, you will board a small boat for the approximately 25-minute journey to Isla Perro. Boat travel times can vary depending on weather, sea conditions and passenger stops at other islands.
Shared roundtrip transportation from Panama City can be added during booking. Transportation from Playa Bonita is also available for an additional charge.

Tao Travel 365 strives to deliver the best possible customer experience. If at any point you have a question or concern about our service, please call us by phone at +1 (805) 826-3657 or email us at sales@taotravel365.tours.
I. GENERAL ACCOMMODATION POLICIES
Due to the nature of our business, the limited supply of cabins in San Blas and the high reservation demand, a 100% refund less credit card processing fees will only be granted if booked via our website www.taotravel365.tours AND if canceled more than 15 days before the check-in date. A partial refund of 50 percent less credit card processing fees will be granted if Tao Travel 365 receives notice at least 7 days in advance of your check-in date.
For cancellations received less than 7 days before your check-in date, no refund will be granted. All sales are final.
For all bookings made via outside portals such as, but not limited to Viator, Booking.com, Expedia, Airbnb, Hotels.com, please refer to the respective cancellation policy of the portal that you booked with.
If you are unable to realize the reservation, contact us as soon as possible and we will try to arrange and reschedule the same or different accommodation for you.
If you are not at the designated meeting point by the time of your scheduled reservation or pick up, Tao Travel 365 reserves the right not to provide a refund. However, we will always try our best to locate you at the meeting point and call your WhatsApp number, if one was provided. After all, we want you to visit San Blas and to have fun. That is our goal!
II. CANCELED OR POSTPONED RESERVATIONS
Occasionally, reservations are canceled or postponed due to weather or ocean conditions, mechanical failure, or other unforeseen events. Should this occur, we will attempt to contact you about the cancellations and to inform you of refund or exchange procedures for that accommodation. For exact instructions on any canceled or postponed accommodation, please contact us.
In the case of a cancellation of your accommodation by Tao Travel 365, we will refund your accommodation or schedule you for another accommodation, as detailed below.
III. REFUNDS
All sales are final. No refunds are available unless an accommodation is canceled within the cancellation guidelines (see section I.), or canceled or postponed by Tao Travel 365 (see section II.). We will offer refunds of the full face value of the reservation(s) that are canceled or postponed (or, if a discounted reservation, then instead the discounted reservation price paid). No refunds are offered on any service, payment processing or convenience fees.
To receive a refund for a canceled or postponed accommodation, contact us at sales@taotravel365.tours within 2 days of the accommodation cancellation and write "refund" in the subject line. Instructions will be provided in order to obtain your refund.
IV. ACCOMMODATION EXCHANGES
No exchanges are offered by Tao Travel 365. While in some extreme cases we may offer this service (such as a cancellation by Tao Travel 365), it is not guaranteed and often impossible. Contact us directly by email at sales@taotravel365.tours to inquire about exchanges. Fees may apply.

Best for travelers who only have one day. Our San Blas Day Tour begins with an early-morning pickup in Panama City followed by the drive across the mountains to the Caribbean coast. From the port, guests travel by boat to three island stops, typically including Isla Perro and the Natural Pool.
It is a long but rewarding day: pickups begin around 5:00 AM and guests generally return to Panama City in the evening. For travelers with limited time, this is the easiest way to experience the beaches, snorkeling and island scenery of San Blas without staying overnight.
Stay Overnight on Isla Yansailadup
Best for travelers who want to slow down and spend a night on the islands. Isla Yansailadup is one of our favorite overnight options in the Lemon Cays and offers both over-water cabins and private rooms.

What to Expect on a San Blas Islands Tour
San Blas is one of the few Caribbean destinations where the experience is still relatively undeveloped and locally managed. Reaching the islands requires an early departure from Panama City, a drive through the mountains to the Caribbean coast, and then a boat transfer to the islands.
Travel logistics can feel less structured than in a conventional resort destination, and many island accommodations are intentionally simple. Depending on the island, you may find basic cabins, limited electricity, shared or simple private bathrooms, and few modern amenities.
From our experience, guests enjoy San Blas most when they arrive prepared for the simplicity of island life. The reward is access to white-sand beaches, clear Caribbean water, snorkeling, small Guna communities and islands that still feel far removed from mass tourism.
Best Islands and Places to Visit in San Blas
Isla Perro
Isla Perro is one of the most popular stops on San Blas day tours. Its main attraction is a shallow shipwreck just offshore, which has become a snorkeling site with tropical fish and coral life.
The Natural Pool
The Natural Pool is a shallow sandbank surrounded by clear Caribbean water. Boats often stop here between islands so guests can swim and stand waist-deep in the middle of the sea.
Holandeses Cays
The Holandeses Cays are among the more remote parts of the archipelago and are especially appealing for sailing, snorkeling and longer island-hopping trips. Reaching them generally requires more time than a standard day tour.
Lemon Cays
The Lemon Cays are home to several popular islands and overnight accommodations, including Isla Yansailadup. Their location makes them convenient for travelers who want a mix of island stays, snorkeling and short boat transfers.
Cambombia Island
Cambombia is one of the more secluded islands we have visited in San Blas and is generally reached on sailing itineraries or selected island-hopping trips rather than standard day tours.
Guna Culture and Traditions
Comprising one of the largest tribal groups in Panama, the Guna people work hard to protect their Comarca from unwanted westernization. Remember this as you travel through the region – be kind and respectful. We suggest that our guests make an effort to learn about the Guna way of life by interacting with the locals, starting with the driver picking them up from your hotel. Knowing even a few basic words will most likely be rewarded with an openhearted smile (“nuedi” is thank you, “igi benuga” is "How are you"). The Guna are also known to throw a good party: amongst many festivities are the 4-day “Flowering” ceremonies held for each girl transcending into puberty, the Nogagope, a traditional dance celebration on Isla Tigre, or the February 25 party celebrating the Guna Revolution of 1925.

Despite centuries of struggle with larger cultures, the Guna have retained many of their ancient traditions, which also include the art of Mola making, the creation of colorful quilted panels with tiny stitching on many layers of fabric. Molas are considered to be an integral part of the Guna culture and represent an important part of their identity. Molas have also become popular among travelers who purchase these elaborate art pieces and use them as decor, framed on walls or sewn onto throw pillows.
Best Time to Visit San Blas
San Blas can be visited year-round, but the experience changes depending on the season. Temperatures remain warm throughout the year, while rainfall, wind and sea conditions vary.
December to April: Drier and Windier
December through April is generally the drier season and is also the most popular time to visit San Blas. There is typically more sunshine and less rainfall, but Caribbean trade winds can also make the sea rougher on some days.
May to November: Wetter but Often Calmer
May through November brings a greater chance of tropical showers, but rain often comes in shorter periods rather than lasting all day. This season can also bring calmer sea conditions, which can make boat trips, snorkeling and sailing particularly enjoyable.
There is no single “best” month for everyone. If sunshine is your priority, the dry season is generally preferable. If you prefer calmer seas and fewer visitors and don't mind occasional rain, the wetter months can be an excellent time to visit.
How to Prepare for a San Blas Islands Tour
Be Prepared for Simple Island Facilities
One of the most important things to understand before visiting San Blas is that most island accommodations are very basic compared with conventional hotels. Depending on the island, cabins may have wood or sand floors, mosquito nets, fans and either private or shared bathrooms.
Electricity and fresh water are limited on many islands. Some properties generate their own electricity and pump or transport fresh water for bathrooms and showers, so guests should use both conservatively.
We often describe overnight stays in San Blas as somewhat “camping-like.” Travelers who arrive expecting simple facilities generally enjoy the experience much more than those expecting resort standards.
