San Blas Day Tour Option 1 vs. Option 2
We offer two different San Blas Day Tour experiences so you can choose the itinerary that best matches the kind of day you want.
Option 1 – The Classic San Blas Experience
Our San Blas Day Tour Option 1 is best for first-time visitors who want to see several of the area's best-known attractions. The itinerary normally includes Isla Perro, the Natural Pool, Isla Misdup and Isla Diablo.
Best for: Travelers who want snorkeling, iconic San Blas stops and a well-rounded first visit.
Option 2 – The More Secluded Experience
San Blas Day Tour Option 2 is designed for travelers who prefer fewer crowds and more relaxed beach time. The itinerary includes Isla Yansa, the Natural Pool and Isla Misdup.
Best for: Travelers looking for beautiful beaches, a slower pace and a more tranquil San Blas island experience.
Important: Local Guna guides on Option 2 may not speak English. Please keep this in mind when choosing between the two tours.
San Blas Day Tour Option 2 Itinerary
Your San Blas adventure begins early in the morning with pickup from your Panama City accommodation between 5:00 AM and 5:45 AM. You'll travel in a shared 4x4 vehicle through the mountain and rainforest landscape toward the Port of Cartí.
The drive normally takes approximately 2.5–3 hours. A short grocery-store stop may be made along the way if you would like to purchase additional snacks, water or other items for the day.
Once you arrive at the port, you'll board a local lancha for the boat journey into the San Blas Islands. Depending on sea conditions, the ride can be bumpy and wet.
Isla Yansa
Your first island stop is Isla Yansa, an inhabited tropical island surrounded by Caribbean water and palm-lined beaches in the San Blas Islands.
Enjoy time to swim, relax on the beach, use the ocean swings or simply take in the peaceful island setting. Beach chairs are available, and SUP boards may be available to rent locally.
Lunch is served during the island portion of the tour and normally includes your choice of fish or chicken with rice, plantains and salad. A vegetarian option can be requested. One drink is also included.

Natural Pool
We then continue to the famous Natural Pool, a shallow sandbank surrounded by clear Caribbean water.
Here you can stand in waist-deep water in the middle of the sea, swim and enjoy the unusual landscape. Starfish may sometimes be visible on the sandy bottom. Please observe marine life without touching or removing animals from the water. You can learn more about Panama's Caribbean marine ecosystems from the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute.

Isla Misdup
The final major stop is Isla Misdup, a newer island stop known for its undeveloped beach, shallow turquoise water and expansive submerged sandbank.
The shallow water extends far from shore, making this a relaxing place for swimming, wading and enjoying the Caribbean scenery. Compared with some of San Blas's more established islands, Isla Misdup generally offers a quieter and less-developed atmosphere.
Between approximately 3:00 PM and 3:30 PM, we'll begin the return trip toward the Port of Cartí. Your driver will be waiting for the journey back to Panama City, with arrival at your accommodation expected at approximately 7:00 PM.

Important Information for San Blas Day Tour Option 2
Road Journey
Please be prepared for a 2.5–3 hour car ride each way on winding mountain roads that may include potholes and uneven sections. The journey is part of reaching this remote region and may be uncomfortable for travelers who are sensitive to motion.
Boat Ride
The boat ride from Port of Cartí to the islands normally takes approximately 25–40 minutes. Depending on ocean conditions, the ride can be bumpy and wet. We recommend protecting phones, cameras and other electronics in a waterproof bag.
Local Service & Guna Culture
Tour services within San Blas are provided by members of the local Guna community. San Blas is a remote Indigenous territory and service is generally simple and informal rather than hotel-style.
Option 2 local guides may not speak English. Patience, flexibility and respect for local customs are an important part of enjoying the experience.
For more background on the Indigenous people of the region, you can learn more about the Guna people.
Weather & Nature
San Blas has a tropical Caribbean climate and weather may change quickly. Tours generally operate in normal rain conditions, while severe maritime conditions may require itinerary changes or port closures.
Sandflies and mosquitoes may be present, particularly during wetter and less windy periods, so insect repellent is recommended.
Medical Care
Medical facilities on the islands are very limited. Serious medical situations may require transportation back toward Panama City. Travel insurance is strongly recommended.
Last-Minute Bookings
Reservations made after 6:00 PM for the following day are subject to confirmation. Please wait for explicit confirmation from our booking team before considering a last-minute reservation confirmed.
Additional Transportation Options
If you prefer to drive yourself to Port of Cartí, a $40 per person reduction may apply. Only suitable 4x4 vehicles are permitted for the journey into the territory, and guests must arrive on time because the boat tour cannot wait for delayed arrivals.
Round-trip transportation from the Playa Bonita area is available for an additional $10 per person.
