We offer two San Blas day-tour itineraries so you can choose the experience that best suits your interests.
Option 1 – The Classic San Blas Experience
Our San Blas Day Tour Option 1 normally visits Isla Perro, the Natural Pool, Isla Misdup and Isla Diablo. Isla Perro’s offshore shipwreck makes this a popular choice for travelers interested in snorkeling and several of the region’s best-known attractions.
Best for: First-time visitors who want a varied island-hopping itinerary with a shipwreck snorkeling stop.
Option 2 – The More Secluded Experience
This San Blas Islands tour from Panama City – Option 2 visits Isla Yansailadup, the Natural Pool and Isla Misdup. It offers fewer island stops and a relaxed beach experience. Visitor numbers vary, so secluded conditions cannot be guaranteed.
Best for: Travelers who prefer beach time, swimming and a slower-paced island itinerary.
Guide language: Local Guna guides on Option 2 do not speak English. Please consider this when choosing your tour.
Getting from Panama City to the San Blas Islands
Reaching San Blas involves both road and boat transportation. Your tour includes shared pickup from your Panama City accommodation and a 4x4 transfer to the Port of Cartí in Guna Yala.
The drive normally takes approximately 2.5–3 hours each way, following winding mountain roads through rainforest terrain. Uneven road sections and potholes can make the journey uncomfortable for travelers who are sensitive to motion.
At the port, you will board a local lancha for the boat journey to the islands. The crossing normally takes approximately 25–40 minutes, depending on the destination and sea conditions. The ride can be bumpy and wet, so protect your electronics and valuables in a waterproof bag.
San Blas Islands Tour from Panama City – Option 2 Itinerary
Your day begins with pickup between 5:00 AM and 5:45 AM. You will travel by shared 4x4 toward the Port of Cartí, with a short grocery-store stop possible along the way for additional water or snacks.
After entering Guna Yala and arriving at the port, you will meet the local team and continue by boat to the islands. The following itinerary describes the usual stops; their order and timing may change with local conditions.
Isla Yansailadup
Isla Yansailadup, also known as Yani Island, is an inhabited tropical island surrounded by Caribbean water and palm-lined beaches. Enjoy time to swim, relax on the beach and take in the island scenery.
Beach chairs are available, and SUP boards may be available to rent locally. Availability of island amenities can vary.
Lunch is served during the island portion of the tour and normally includes your choice of fish or chicken with rice, plantains and salad. A vegetarian option can be requested in advance. One drink is included.
Natural Pool
The Natural Pool is a shallow sandbank surrounded by clear Caribbean water. Depending on water levels and conditions, you can stand in the sea, swim and enjoy views across the surrounding islands.
Starfish may sometimes be visible on the sandy bottom, although wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. Please observe marine life without touching it or removing animals from the water.
Isla Misdup
Isla Misdup offers a white-sand beach, turquoise water and a shallow sandbank extending offshore. Enjoy time for swimming, wading or relaxing on the beach before the return journey.
Compared with some of San Blas’s more established island stops, Misdup generally offers a less-developed setting. Water conditions and visitor numbers vary from day to day.
Between approximately 3:00 PM and 3:30 PM, the boat begins its return toward the Port of Cartí. Your driver will take you back to Panama City, with arrival at your accommodation expected at approximately 7:00 PM.

Important Information for Your San Blas Islands Tour
Road Journey
Please prepare for approximately 2.5–3 hours in the vehicle each way. The route includes winding mountain roads, potholes and uneven sections. Consider the length and conditions of the journey when traveling with young children or if you are sensitive to motion.
Boat Ride
The boat journey can be bumpy and wet, especially when the sea is rough. Keep phones, cameras and other electronics in a waterproof bag and follow the crew’s safety instructions.
Local Service & Guna Culture
Services within San Blas are provided by members of the local Guna community. This is a remote Indigenous territory, where facilities and service are generally simple and informal.
Local guides on Option 2 do not speak English. Patience, flexibility and respect for local customs help make the experience enjoyable.
Weather & Itinerary Changes
Caribbean weather can change quickly. Tours generally operate in normal rain conditions, while severe sea conditions may require changes to the itinerary or a port closure. Island stops, their order and the time spent at each location may be adjusted by the local team.
Sandflies and mosquitoes may be present, particularly during wetter or less windy periods. Bring insect repellent.
Medical Facilities
Medical facilities on the islands are very limited. Serious medical situations may require transportation toward Panama City. Travel insurance is recommended.

Reservations made after 6:00 PM for the following day are subject to confirmation. Please wait for explicit confirmation from our booking team before considering your last-minute reservation confirmed.
Additional Transportation Options
Round-trip transportation from the Playa Bonita area is available for an additional $10 per person.
If you prefer to drive independently to Port of Cartí, a $40 per person reduction may apply. Contact us before booking to arrange this option. A suitable 4x4 vehicle is required, and you must arrive at the agreed time because the boat tour cannot wait for delayed guests.

What is included in Option 2?

How is Option 2 different from Option 1?
Option 1 normally visits Isla Perro, the Natural Pool, Isla Misdup and Isla Diablo, including the shipwreck snorkeling stop at Isla Perro. Option 2 visits Isla Yansailadup, the Natural Pool and Isla Misdup, with fewer island stops and a more relaxed beach itinerary.
Do the guides speak English?
No. The local Guna guides operating Option 2 do not speak English. Please keep this in mind when choosing your tour.
How long does the tour last?
The complete experience normally lasts approximately 14 hours, including transportation from and back to Panama City. Pickup is between 5:00 AM and 5:45 AM, with return expected around 7:00 PM.
How do I get from Panama City to San Blas?
The journey involves an approximately 2.5–3 hour drive by 4x4 to Port of Cartí, followed by a boat crossing of approximately 25–40 minutes. Both transportation stages are included in this tour.
Do I need identification and cash?
Yes. Bring your passport or Panamanian cédula, as applicable, for entry into Guna Yala. Bring cash for the entrance fee and any additional purchases.
Can I drive to the port myself?
A self-drive option may be arranged in advance with a $40 per person reduction. You need a suitable 4x4 vehicle and must arrive at the agreed time. Contact our team before booking this option.
Is this tour suitable for children?
Families can join, but parents should consider the early departure, long road journey and potentially bumpy boat ride when deciding whether the tour suits their children.
Is snorkeling equipment provided?
A limited number of shared snorkeling sets are available. We recommend bringing your own if snorkeling is important to you.
Are starfish sightings guaranteed?
No. Wildlife sightings depend on natural conditions. If you see starfish or other marine animals, observe them without touching or removing them from the water.
Can I request a vegetarian lunch?
Yes. Please request a vegetarian meal before your tour so the local team can prepare accordingly.

Due to the nature of our business, the logistics involved in organizing tours and high reservation demand, the following refund policies apply:
- A 100% refund, less credit-card processing fees, will only be granted when the tour was booked directly through www.taotravel365.tours and the cancellation is received more than 24 hours before the scheduled start of the tour.
- No refund will be granted for cancellations received less than 24 hours before the scheduled start of the tour.
All sales are final.
For bookings made through third-party platforms, including but not limited to Viator, Expedia and Airbnb, please refer to and follow the cancellation policy of the platform through which you booked.
If you are unable to attend your reservation, contact us as soon as possible. We will try to reschedule your reservation for the same tour or another tour when possible.
If you are not at the designated meeting point at the scheduled reservation or pickup time, Tao Travel 365 reserves the right not to provide a refund. However, we will always make a reasonable effort to locate you at the meeting point and contact the WhatsApp number provided with your reservation. We want you to participate in the tour and enjoy your experience.
CANCELED OR POSTPONED TOURS
Occasionally, tours may be canceled or postponed because of weather or ocean conditions, mechanical failure or other unforeseen circumstances. If this occurs, we will attempt to contact you and provide information about the applicable refund or rescheduling options.
For specific instructions regarding a canceled or postponed tour, please contact us. If Tao Travel 365 cancels your tour, we will issue a refund or offer to reschedule you for another tour, as detailed below.
REFUNDS
All sales are final. Refunds are not available unless a tour is canceled or postponed by Tao Travel 365, or we receive a cancellation request more than 24 hours before the scheduled start of an eligible day tour.
For eligible cancellations received more than 24 hours in advance, a 100% refund of the tour price will be issued, less payment-processing and convenience fees. If Tao Travel 365 cancels or postpones a tour, we will refund the amount paid for the affected tour. Service, payment-processing and convenience fees are nonrefundable.
To request a refund for a canceled or postponed tour, email sales@taotravel365.tours within two days of the tour cancellation and include the word “Refund” in the subject line. We will provide instructions for completing your request.

A paradise in the middle of the sea The islands of San Blas are beautiful, we left on the island with the boat sunk in a private cabin, we really liked the food and the views. The beach has plenty of space to relax, sunbathe and go snorkeling next to the sunken boat. There are islands very close by that are beautiful and we went to visit them after our Czech out and our last lunch was on another island.It is worth the 3 hours by car and the 30 minutes by boat to visit this paradise. Also be sure to get your national park pass done before the tour starts for zapatilla island- they communicated that very clearly which was so nice. The day was absolutely beautiful and did not feel rushed or too much. We left at 10 and got back around 4:30. (Lunch is the last thing and only cash so make sure to eat something before you go!) He was an excellent driver & host, & very considerate, driving slower on the downhill drive to the beach when some of us became nauseous. ADVICE-take your nausea meds when you stop at the gas station! Not later! Trust me! He also made the tour extra special when he spotted a sloth, toucan & a monkey in the trees & stopped to allow us to take pictures & see them up close. He has the eyes of an eagle! Don't know HOW he spotted them while driving! Regarding the San Blas Island tour- BREATHTAKING! Absolutely LOVED this tour. If I had one negative comment it would be to skip the last island (unnecessary) & allow guests to enjoy the island where we had lunch. Getting in/out of the boat is NOT easy. 2 islands+sand bar is enough for this tour! Also, 6 people don't fit "comfortably" in these SUV's! Swimming, snorkeling, etc. Our guides were nice and helpful. I’m glad we got to experience this. Sunscreen and bug spray are a must. We also took water shoes and found this helpful.I will say for the motion sickness people: if you are mildly motion sick, you will be fine on the last part of the drive. It’s paved most of the way. It’s a lot of steep hills and winding motions. I took Dramamine and did just fine. If you get severely motion sick, I don’t know that this would be good for you.Posted on Google

Just a FYI if you experience motion sickness, please take something prior to the ride through the Guna Yala territory. The rode is very winding and hilly. My friend got sick from the ride. Every aspect functioned smoothly - the transportation, the driver, the host at the islands, the lunch, everything. Emmanuel, the Tao Travel 365 representative I spoke with, was enormously helpful. He made the experience one of best I had in Panama and one of the best tours I have taken. He was so responsive, assisted in resolving a potential issue efficiently and quickly, and attentive to a certain need I had. Karen SibertNovember 23, 2024Overall, the San Blas Tour was worth the effort. Transportation was timely and much less stressful than anticipated. Roads were completely paved, and although there were lots of switchbacks through the mountains (2nd hour of the drive), I was never uncomfortable (except for the ride through the city on the return trip -- lots of potholes and terrible traffic). The first two islands we visited were amazing and beyond beautiful. Lunch was nothing special but entirely edible. The last stop was Devil's Island, which was a total disappointment and could have been left off of the itinerary. The beach was rocky, there was limited seating outside of the main patio and in general the appearance paled in comparison to the previous two. I wasn't particularly interested in island hopping and would've preferred an option to visit one island for the entire time. That being said, I enjoyed myself, recommend it highly and would go again if Devil's Island was eliminated.Posted on TripadvisorAlexia DNovember 23, 2024Perfect beaches, plenty space for everyone. Pleasant trip and wonderful beaches. Food was great too. Try the Coco Loco. Bring ginger pills if you arent comfy riding a roller coaster for 2h straight. GunneJanuary 11, 2024Ein kleines Paradies zum Entschleunigen Ein kleines Paradies: Eine Insel in der Karibik mit 130m Durchmesser. 245 Palmen drauf, ein paar Hütten für 2-4 Personen, ein Haus mit mehreren Zimmern (sehr einfach!), einfachste Sanitäranlagen und ein Gemeinschaftsbereich, wo auch gegessen wird. Außenrum: Türkisblaues Meer zum Schwimmen und Schnorcheln. Sehr nette Gunas. Einfaches, aber leckeres Essen (Fisch und Hühnchen). Strom (Handy aufladen!) gibt es nur stundenweise und zwar nur im Gemeinschaftsbereich. Trotzdem: Gute Internetverbindung (z.B. mit TIGO). Wir waren 6(!) Tage dort und konnten superschöne Ausflüge machen. Kleiner Verbesserungsvorschlag für die Insel: Mehr Sitz- und Liegegelegenheiten zum Chillen. Auch etwas mehr zum Einkaufen (Snacks, …) wäre empfehlenswert. Kokosnüsse gibt es für teure 3 Dollar. Fazit: Eine Insel zum Entschleunigen. Wer Luxus will, ist hier falsch. 5 Sterne, weil es für uns (4 Erwachsene, 5 Kinder) trotz des hohen Preises super schön war.Posted on Tripadvisor

We saw four islands, took many pictures and met many great people Last one hour of driving was really windy with potholes as mentioned and advertised many times prior. Michael was really nice to accomodate and gave me the front seat (highly recommended) The tour was mostly just a transportation service from hotel to the various islands and back (road and boat). We didn’t meet Michael or team on this trip. Would’ve liked a tour guide present to talk more about the islands and the history of the Indians (Gunas) and their daily lives etc First and only meal service is at 12pm so highly recommend to have breakfast before the pick up at 5am or utilise the grocery store stop over at the beginning of the trip Overall a great day to San BlasPosted on Airbnb

The tour to the islands was fun and I felt safe the entire time. Being in the beautiful waters, and seeing the fish and starfish made the journey worth it. CherellApril 8, 2022The experience overall was magical. Everyone was extremely kind and generous. The beaches were beautiful! You can stand up in the shallow water at several locations. I loved that we got the option to buy homemade purses, jewelry, and coconuts at the beach store. The roads leading to the starting point however, we’re terrible. If you have motion sickness or vertigo, you may want to consider not going.Load more
