TOUR OVERVIEW
Your San Blas Panama Kuna Day Tour starts early in the morning. A friendly driver will meet you at your Panama City lodging between 5:00am and 5:45am and safely transport you and up to five other guests to the Port of Carti. Relax and start enjoying the 2.5 to 3 hour journey through the spectacular jungle highlands. Oftentimes we encounter wildlife, such as monkeys and sloths on the road and will gladly stop the car to give you opportunities to admire these beautiful animals and to take photos. Our drivers will also stop at a grocery store in case you want to purchase any items, such as snacks, water or fruit.
When arriving at the port a “lancha” boat with your San Blas tour guide will be waiting for you, ready to commence the San Blas tour.
The 30-minute boat ride to the first island may be a little bumpy and, depending on ocean conditions, there may be some ocean spray. All of our boats have ample space and feature sun protection that will make this journey more comfortable.
Arriving at your first destination, Isla Guasirdup, you will be greeted by a tropical palm-fringed island paradise and calm waters with various shades of blue and green inviting you to dive in and play with the multitude of colorful fish surrounding you. Enjoy some coffee and fresh fruit before relaxing on the beach. You will have plenty of time to relax in the shade of a palm tree, explore the island, meet the amazing Kuna population or bath in the crystal clear ocean, surrounding yourself with the iridescent turquoise water colors allowing for postcard perfect photo shots. We provide all of our guests with snorkel equipment (limited availability) for the day to marvel at the colorful reef and the multitude of fish.
We continue the tour to Isla Hierba, another beautiful island, where we will enjoy freshly prepared lunch, consisting of fresh fried or grilled fish, plantains and salad. (note: we also offer vegetarian options and other alternatives, if you have diet restrictions. Lobsters must be ordered during the purchase of your tour).
In the afternoon, we will take the boat to the indigenous Kuna community, where your guide will show you around. Learn about the traditions and simple ways of life and marvel at the intricate ways Mola artwork is made.
Between 3:00 and 3:30pm we will leave this island paradise and head back to the Port of Carti. Your driver will be waiting for you and safely drive you back to Panama City, dropping you off at your lodging by 7pm.
San Blas is one of the last unspoiled and undeveloped places in the world and we hope you will get to experience the beauty of the islands and the innocence of the unique Kuna culture. PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR A 2.5 HOUR CAR JOURNEY EACH WAY OVER BAD ROADS WITH POTHOLES AND SLOW CURVES! THERE IS ALSO A 25-30 MINUTE BOAT RIDE TO YOUR FIRST ISLAND WHICH CAN GET QUITE BUMPY AND WET. We feel that the islands are worth the long drive, but some travelers have complained about the roads and the fast boat ride from and to the port. While we strive to provide our guests the best service and an unforgettable experience in San Blas, we are not responsible for road and ocean conditions, and we would like you to be aware of this fact :)

🚙 Transportation
- Car ride: 2.5–3 hrs from Panama City on curvy mountain roads in shared 4x4 SUVs (6 passengers). Extra seat = extra cost.
- Pick-up: 5:00–5:30 am — be ready on time; drivers cannot wait more than 10 minutes.
- Port check-in: Can feel busy or informal, but the Kuna community maintains an organized system and ensures all guests are cared for.
- Boat ride: 20–40 min; can be bumpy and wet — bring a dry bag for electronics.
- Transfers: Boats may stop at other islands to pick up or drop off guests, offering a glimpse of authentic Guna island life.

TOUR POLICIES
Due to the nature of our business, the logistics involved with organizing tours and the high reservation demand following refund policies apply:
- 100% refund less credit card processing fees will only be granted if booked via our website www.taotravel365.tours AND if canceled more than 24 hours before the start of the tour.
- No refund will be granted for cancelations received less than 24 hours before the tour start date.
All sales are final.
For all bookings made via outside portals such as, but not limited to Viator, Expedia, Airbnb, please refer and adhere to the respective cancellation policy of the portal that you booked with.
If you are unable to realize the reservation, contact us as soon as possible and we will try to arrange and reschedule the same or different tour for you.
If you are not at the designated meeting point by the time of your scheduled reservation or pick up, Tao Travel 365 reserves the right not to provide a refund. However, we will always try our best to locate you at the meeting point and call your WhatsApp number, if one was provided. After all, we want you to visit San Blas and to have fun. That is our goal!
CANCELED OR POSTPONED TOURS
Occasionally, tours are canceled or postponed due to weather or ocean conditions, mechanical failure, or other unforeseen events. Should this occur, we will attempt to contact you about the cancellations and to inform you of refund or exchange procedures for that tour. For exact instructions on any canceled or postponed tour, please contact us. In the case of a cancellation of your tour by Tao Travel 365, we will refund your tour or schedule you for another tour, as detailed below.
REFUNDS
All sales are final. No refunds are available unless a tour is canceled or postponed, or we are given 24 hours advance noticed whereby a 100 percent refund will be awarded. We will offer refunds of the full face value of the tour(s) that are canceled or postponed (or, if a discounted tour, then instead the discounted tour price paid). No refunds are offered on any service, payment processing or convenience fees. To receive a refund for a canceled or postponed tour, contact us at sales@taotravel365.tours within 2 days of the tour cancellation and write "refund" in the subject line. A paradise in the middle of the sea The islands of San Blas are beautiful, we left on the island with the boat sunk in a private cabin, we really liked the food and the views. The beach has plenty of space to relax, sunbathe and go snorkeling next to the sunken boat. There are islands very close by that are beautiful and we went to visit them after our Czech out and our last lunch was on another island.It is worth the 3 hours by car and the 30 minutes by boat to visit this paradise. Also be sure to get your national park pass done before the tour starts for zapatilla island- they communicated that very clearly which was so nice. The day was absolutely beautiful and did not feel rushed or too much. We left at 10 and got back around 4:30. (Lunch is the last thing and only cash so make sure to eat something before you go!) We had an good guide Amir. We saw dolphins, sloths, sharks, jellyfish, etc. So many fun creatures and such a fun tour! Would highly recommend this for your trip to Bocas!Posted on Google

He was an excellent driver & host, & very considerate, driving slower on the downhill drive to the beach when some of us became nauseous. ADVICE-take your nausea meds when you stop at the gas station! Not later! Trust me! He also made the tour extra special when he spotted a sloth, toucan & a monkey in the trees & stopped to allow us to take pictures & see them up close. He has the eyes of an eagle! Don't know HOW he spotted them while driving! Regarding the San Blas Island tour- BREATHTAKING! Absolutely LOVED this tour. If I had one negative comment it would be to skip the last island (unnecessary) & allow guests to enjoy the island where we had lunch. Getting in/out of the boat is NOT easy. 2 islands+sand bar is enough for this tour! Also, 6 people don't fit "comfortably" in these SUV's! Swimming, snorkeling, etc. Our guides were nice and helpful. I’m glad we got to experience this. Sunscreen and bug spray are a must. We also took water shoes and found this helpful.I will say for the motion sickness people: if you are mildly motion sick, you will be fine on the last part of the drive. It’s paved most of the way. It’s a lot of steep hills and winding motions. I took Dramamine and did just fine. If you get severely motion sick, I don’t know that this would be good for you.Posted on Google

Just a FYI if you experience motion sickness, please take something prior to the ride through the Guna Yala territory. The rode is very winding and hilly. My friend got sick from the ride. Once we arrived at San Blas island it was absolutely amazing. The views were breathtaking. The natural pool was amazing. Every aspect functioned smoothly - the transportation, the driver, the host at the islands, the lunch, everything. Emmanuel, the Tao Travel 365 representative I spoke with, was enormously helpful. He made the experience one of best I had in Panama and one of the best tours I have taken. He was so responsive, assisted in resolving a potential issue efficiently and quickly, and attentive to a certain need I had. Karen SibertNovember 23, 2024Overall, the San Blas Tour was worth the effort. Transportation was timely and much less stressful than anticipated. Roads were completely paved, and although there were lots of switchbacks through the mountains (2nd hour of the drive), I was never uncomfortable (except for the ride through the city on the return trip -- lots of potholes and terrible traffic). The first two islands we visited were amazing and beyond beautiful. Lunch was nothing special but entirely edible. The last stop was Devil's Island, which was a total disappointment and could have been left off of the itinerary. The beach was rocky, there was limited seating outside of the main patio and in general the appearance paled in comparison to the previous two. I wasn't particularly interested in island hopping and would've preferred an option to visit one island for the entire time. That being said, I enjoyed myself, recommend it highly and would go again if Devil's Island was eliminated.Posted on TripadvisorAlexia DNovember 23, 2024Perfect beaches, plenty space for everyone. Pleasant trip and wonderful beaches. Food was great too. Try the Coco Loco. Bring ginger pills if you arent comfy riding a roller coaster for 2h straight. GunneJanuary 11, 2024Ein kleines Paradies zum Entschleunigen Ein kleines Paradies: Eine Insel in der Karibik mit 130m Durchmesser. 245 Palmen drauf, ein paar Hütten für 2-4 Personen, ein Haus mit mehreren Zimmern (sehr einfach!), einfachste Sanitäranlagen und ein Gemeinschaftsbereich, wo auch gegessen wird. Außenrum: Türkisblaues Meer zum Schwimmen und Schnorcheln. Sehr nette Gunas. Einfaches, aber leckeres Essen (Fisch und Hühnchen). Strom (Handy aufladen!) gibt es nur stundenweise und zwar nur im Gemeinschaftsbereich. Trotzdem: Gute Internetverbindung (z.B. mit TIGO). Wir waren 6(!) Tage dort und konnten superschöne Ausflüge machen. Kleiner Verbesserungsvorschlag für die Insel: Mehr Sitz- und Liegegelegenheiten zum Chillen. Auch etwas mehr zum Einkaufen (Snacks, …) wäre empfehlenswert. Kokosnüsse gibt es für teure 3 Dollar. Fazit: Eine Insel zum Entschleunigen. Wer Luxus will, ist hier falsch. 5 Sterne, weil es für uns (4 Erwachsene, 5 Kinder) trotz des hohen Preises super schön war.Posted on Tripadvisor

We saw four islands, took many pictures and met many great people Last one hour of driving was really windy with potholes as mentioned and advertised many times prior. Michael was really nice to accomodate and gave me the front seat (highly recommended) The tour was mostly just a transportation service from hotel to the various islands and back (road and boat). We didn’t meet Michael or team on this trip. Would’ve liked a tour guide present to talk more about the islands and the history of the Indians (Gunas) and their daily lives etc First and only meal service is at 12pm so highly recommend to have breakfast before the pick up at 5am or utilise the grocery store stop over at the beginning of the trip Overall a great day to San BlasPosted on Airbnb

I loved that we got the option to buy homemade purses, jewelry, and coconuts at the beach store. The roads leading to the starting point however, we’re terrible. If you have motion sickness or vertigo, you may want to consider not going.Load more
